Why join?
Membership dollars and volunteer time make the difference between merely adequate trails (or no trails at all!) and beautiful, safe, smooth trails that are a joy to ride and an accomplishment to be proud of. You can help in any number of ways with your nominal membership dues, your time, expertise and labor. Get involved at the level at which you're comfortable, but do get involved!
Members of SSMSA continually work to maintain and improve our local trails. From shovel work to political action---from negotiations with private landowners and businesses to creating working relationships with city, county, state, and federal officials---all these trail-related tasks are undertaken year-round by SSMSA volunteers. It's worth repeating: Great trails don't happen by themselves!
Also, consider joining the Michigan Snowmobile & ORV Association (MiSORVA). This state-wide organization works tirelessly to preserve your right to enjoy your chosen form of recreation. MiSORVA is an integral part of the national organization, American Council of Snowmobile Associations (ACSA), which in turn is part of the International Snowmobile Congress (ISC).
These organizations give you a voice with legislators and have been instrumental in maintaining snowmobile access to state and federal lands. They continue to work for your benefit and their work is enhanced and empowered by the strength of numbers.
