The members, member/volunteers, and member/advertisers that make up the Sault Ste. Marie Snowmobile Association (SSMSA) are proud of the part they play in keeping the Sault area snowmobile trail system among the best and most beautiful in the Midwest. A non-profit, 501.c.3 organization, SSMSA operates 4 trail groomers, mostly 7 days a week, during the peak riding season. Skilled volunteer groomer drivers put in long and frequently late hours making sure snowmobilers, visitor and resident alike, have smooth trails to enjoy all winter long.

SSMSA is responsible for grooming, brushing, and signing over 100 miles of snowmobile trails in and around the city of Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. The trails we maintain go through Brimley and Raco to the west, and Kinross to the south. Our trails connect riders to Newberry, Paradise, Strongs, Pickford, Cedarville, and St. Ignace. You can ride the entire trail system of the Eastern Upper Peninsula of Michigan - and beyond - by starting from an SSMSA groomed trail. In fact, the MichCanSka group rode to Alaska from here in 2010!

Off-season doesn't allow for much idle time for the Board of Trustees or club volunteers. In the spring and summer, it's time to catch up on machine and building maintenance. In the fall it's back to the never ending trail maintenance with brushing and signing.

SSMSA is a partner with, and member of, the Eastern Upper Peninsula Motorized Trail Association (EUPMTA) and the Michigan Snowmobile and Off Road Vehicle Association (MISORVA). We share in the mission to develop a common appreciation, understanding, and knowledge of our favorite winter-time family recreation.

The home of the SSMSA contains a clubhouse and groomer barn that are fully heated. The "barn" is a large shop for repair and housing equipment, while the clubhouse is a meeting/kitchen area where we can host meetings, dinners, and other club functions. The building is barrier free and has separate restrooms for men and women.
